Geoff Miller, the guest speaker at the upcoming cricket dinner, has been made England Chairman of Selectors. How many of our local rivals will have such an important guest at their dinner? Answer: None
You can read about his promotion here. I think we should now start lobbying our new best friend for spots in the side. For example, if they picked Grifta and The Hock, then at least we would have two spinners who can turn the ball and bowl with some variation!
Anyway, i now think tickets will be even more sought after for this prestidious event, so get your order in quick! |

The triumphant undeafeated touring side returned last night bleary eyed after a hard two days Playing cricket.
After Beating LTCC convincingly we celebrated long into the night and early hours and were somewhat less enthusiastic for Mondays game strangely (Especially Tedder) but we pulled up our socks to overcome Enderby Forester in a Low scoring game.
Details of both games will be added to database later this week.
This means that we are undefeated on our travels in all 5 games! |
Monday 6th August 2007 lardy |
After a 2 year break from turning his arm over, our president (Clive Tempest) returns to confound his critics by taking 5 wickets for 12 runs in a spell of unplayable bowling full of his old guile and cunning. Staking his claim as Westbury's premier (OAP) spin bowler! |

Message from Leicester Teachers:
All at Leicestershire Teacher's CC want to say thank you for a grand game of cricket and the usual quiet evening in the bar!!! What a wonderful time we had.
I suspect you have been badly affected by the floods. We hope you are all safe and the floods soon go down. Also that your mains water is restored.
A third of our outfield is under water so no game this Saturday.
We eventually got out of Cheltenham late morning on Saturday. Glad we were going north as south bound was at a stand still for mile.
Take care all and we look forward to seeing you in August, in dry, sunny, hot weather.
Cheers,
Tony and all at LTCC. |

2nds game against Aston Ingham added to the database. We batted first and collapsed to 45 for 6 from 17 overs. Then Scott "Hero" Thomas decided to dead bat for 27 overs, scoring just 9 runs, ably supported by Karl George (19) and Stuart Jellyman (12). Then in a devistating last over "Hero" 23 runs from a J Rickard over, spoiling figures of 1 for 10 from 7 to 1 for 34 from 8. Then in reply the long haired bomber took a magnificent 4 for 10 from 8 overs, and Karl George held his nerve when the skipper had lost his to take the last wicket to seal a great win. Well done Karl and Scott, role on next week!

Is tipper best, or is he still a looser? (sorry mate it is a genius headline!) Well you can find out by looking at the new fantasy cricket scoring table. You can find out who you should have picked, or better still if you have scored more points than 'the only batsman in the team' (you know who you are!).
Anyway, it is here. |

Friday 23rd February 2007 iann |
Neil Wyman gave me some old scorebooks to add to the website. He told me Bruce Sargent would top all of the averages when i had finished, but i think he underestimated. In 1965 alone Bruce Sargent played 32 games, scoring 684 runs, taking 13 catches and 120 wickets from 323 overs. Most people can only dream of those sort of stats for their entire career! Keep checking back as i add more of the books. |
Tuesday 20th February 2007 iann |
Thanks to Neil Wyman, we have an up to date fixture list for 2007. The is the first year for a long time that we have got a whole season worth of Sataday cricket. I cant wait. |
Saturday 17th February 2007 iann |
Just occasionally very strange things happen in games of cricket. I remember being stuffed in a game against Rockhampton, then thrashing them in an impromptu twenty over game where everyone bowled (I seem to remember Will Hargreaves bowling well). Anyway, I have been adding some games from the 1958 season and came over a game against Arcadians. A two innings affair, which WOS won by an innings and 79 runs. What is more startling is that Arcadians were bowled out for 11 in the second innings. I bet a lot of beer was drunk on the May bank holiday this game was played on! |

I have just been to the brilliant Westbury football club website, which i think is maintained by Jammer. Go have a look, especially at the tour photos! |
Sunday 12th November 2006 iann |
Score booksI have been playing for the club since about 1993, and i would really like to have more of the score books from my first few years. In fact, as the club is more the 50 years old, we should really have more statitical information. This site only reflects games since 1999, and even then there is only a few games. So now the site is more stable, i would really like more old books to add to the site, do you have any? Let me know by emailing ian@woscc.org.uk. Thanks in advance! |
Thursday 2nd November 2006 iann |
Thanks to Neil W for updating the fixtures section for the 2007 season. You can see the Saturday fixtures by clicking fixtures on the left hand menu. |
Friday 27th October 2006 iann |
I have been working on a new interesting stats section for the last two weeks. You will see a new link on the menu structure on the left hand side. You will find a whole bunch of useless facts about the club, including the most number of ducks, or the the player who has played in the most winning sides. Let me know if there is anything i can add to that section. I have the raw data, all i have to do is think of questions to ask! |
Friday 29th September 2006 iann |
More bugs with the stats fixed. Just a few more to go! Shame the last game has been called off. I will have to wait for Winter nets now! |
Thursday 28th September 2006 iann |
Could Hargreaves break the ton this weekend? I have put some unusual random stats on the homepage. I cant believe i am on top of the Ducky league. I think i might umpire on the weekend ..... Boulder, you need to look out!

Thursday 28th September 2006 iann |
Jon H spotted a few problems with the site, and i found a big bug. Basically when the database counted the number of wickets a bowler took, it could only get to 127. I wont bore you with why, cause it is quite geeky. Anyway, thanks to Boycs it is now correct, and Jon, Ed and I have all done quite well out of the fix!
I have also fixed a bug with my new server, so i have managed to add the bowling stats from the Barry game. Man, i really enjoyed being spanked around the place. Perfect end to the season :-) |
Friday 22nd September 2006 iann |
I have added the Barry game to the database. What a brilliant game, i have only ever played in two ties, the previous was at Monmouth, when Tedder scored 17 from the last over.
This was also lit up by a magnificent last minute batting effort by Liam Griffin, who scored 18 from about 9 balls. Even Boycot played well, and was even seen playing a spank through extra cover (never across the line though!). I have also picked up the last of the shirts, so if you are around on Sunday, come down and get them! |
Friday 22nd September 2006 iann |
We are now running on a new webserver, which is good news from me because the fan on my old one failed, and was quite hot when i switched it off.
The site appears to be working ok, let me know if you see anything broken. I have also binned my wireless network, because it is useless in 150 year old stone cottages. I am now using something called homeplugs, which sends network signals over the power sockets. It appears to be more stable, so hopefully the site will be up more as well! |
Sunday 10th September 2006 iann |
Sorry if you have been having trouble accessing the site recently, i am having a bit of trouble with the server. I am rebuilding and hope to resume normal service next week. Stand by for the site being up and down! Sorry! |

Karlos to the rescue!
When you are playing an important game you really need your senior players to perform, and at 49 for 1 every thing was going well against Gloucester Harlequins. However a dodgy track and some good bowling caused us to collapse to 80 for 8, and heading towards defeat. Up stepped Liam Griffin (17), who scored a patient 36 and Karl George (14) who scored his maiden 50 for the club batting at number 10! Their magnificent effort helped the seconds to 202 for 9 from 45 overs. Then, in reply, Karl (3 wickets for 7 from 5) and Liam (5 wickets for 38 from 12) bowled out the Harlequins for 70, to win us the game with maximum points. Well done lads, more like that next week!
|
Monday 29th May 2006 iann |
Well, the rain stopped for a couple of days, and it looked like we were going to get a sunday game on. Only problem was the opposition didnt turn up. We played a six a side game, which was very tiring. But at least we got to hold a cricket ball, and the weather is looking better for next week. So lets keep our fingers crossed! P.s. stats for the first few 2nds and Sun games are up, well done Browner. |
Tuesday 7th February 2006 iann |
Latest meedweek and sunday fixtures have been confirmed and i have updated the website. Next start soon... I cant wait. Get your dinner orders back to me asap!!

Horray, we are up and running, broadband has been installed and it appears to be working. See the front page for information about the tour and the dinner. |
Saturday 14th January 2006 iann |
Horray, preperation for the dinner is under way and i am already itching to start the new season. |
Monday 25th April 2005 iann |
Ahhh the first game of the season has been and gone. It would be an understatement to say the wicket at Newnham was a green seamer, but well done to them for getting the game on! Needless to say i performed with my normal greatness. No wickets from 6 overs for a load. A dropped catch at mid off and caught at midwicket for a duck trying to pull a ball that squirted along the floor. Never mind there is always next week.... If i am picked :-) Changes to the website are going well, i hope to have it up next week. |
Wednesday 13th April 2005 iann |
Well nets are well under way, and i have had to start thinking about the website. I have been meaning to make a few changes for a little while and now seems a good time before i issue passwords to our new captains Mark Tippins and Ian Martin (not really new, but new to this site i guess). It is also time that i fixed the security, to prevent someone breaking in and fiddling with the stats (because i really should know how to keep it a little bit safe!). I am going to add some additional functionality and fix a few bugs, the biggest change is going to be under the hood, no more nasty popups that IE 6 wont support and a much better way of cleaning up the databases after a query. So today i start on V2 of the site... Enjoy. |
